Poc Na Dive Center

Pocna Dive Center is located inside of Pocna hostel so is readily accessible for guests.

There are 3 marine parks in the Parque Nacional.

  • Manchones
  • Punta Cancun
  • Punta Nizuc

All are protected reefs and are abundant in marine life

In May of every year the Loggerhead turtles return to the island to mate and many can be seen in the drift dive at south point. In July and August the same turtles bring their bodies that can weigh up to over a tonne to lay their eggs on the beach where they were born.

The waters around the island contain a wide variety of sea life and it is not uncommon to see schools of eagle rays swimming overhead. Also common to find are starfish, moray eels, Caribbean lobster and the harmless but magnificent, nurse sharks. As well as the endless variety of colorful fish that abound the protected reef.

There is a wide variety of diving on the island.

For training and first dives
Shallow dives with no current and perfect visibility in the warm Caribbean water are ideal for a stress free environment needed for your first experience into the wonder of the undersea world

For the more experienced divers there are drift dives, deep dives, wreck dives and night dives
The Museo, an area in the protected reef of Manchones, was created by artist Jason Taylor and has over 200 statues that makes for an interesting dive and an incredible photo opportunity.

An aspect of diving that is important to this dive center and to most on the island is the conservation, protection and health of the reef. We offer Project Aware courses and have opportunities to volunteer to help clean the reef and to help diminish the problem of Lion fish in the Caribbean.

Discover Scuba Diving

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater?

If you want to find out but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving will let you try scuba to see if you like it. While not an actual scuba certification, during the Discover Scuba Diving experience you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.discoverscubadivinglogo (1)

Your experience may count toward a certified course should you decide to continue. A great way to view the Isla Mujeres reef called Manchones that abounds with undersea life or maybe Museo where you can dive among over 200 life sized statues by Jason Taylor if you only have a short time to spare. This course is done in a day.

While here visit the beautiful living reefs and most amazing snorkeling locations in the country.  Weather permitting we have a snorkel trip daily to the Museo and the Manchones Reef.
The daily tour goes with divers and snorkelers to MUSA and the Manchones Reef.  The cost is 700 pesos per  person, and includes your equipment, park guide, and snacks.
The snorkel in the museum tour will take you to the Silent Evolution site which is located on the southern tip of Isla Mujeres. This snorkeling tour lasts approximately 3 hours, allowing you to enjoy the sights at MUSA (the underwater art museum), which explores the relation between modern art, man, and the environment. The 450 plus sculptures that make up this museum serve to create a reef base, featuring more than 4,500 square feet of surface area. Here you can see up close how numerous species of fish and coral have started to make the museum their permanent home, thus achieving the environmentally friendly objectives of the museum.  The second stop allows you to experience the coral reef and marine life that call it home.
